EID MUBARAK

An interesting holly occasion during a global pandemic depending on where you stand.

Such a religious event always has been kind of a refresh point that generates love, forgiveness, and a huge sense of belonging. It comes to mind that religous culture was built for masses. Groups inside of groups in some sort of a hierarchy, created on the same morals standards between the layers.

You can observe some sort of sadness and sorrow in many faces. Anxious hugs, awkward kisses and life-gambling handshakes. I find it really astonishing how can these strong old basis can shake this easy because of a virus most people are clueless about. No one is committing to the lockdown nor the curfew. People are visiting each other as if the pandemic never happened.

But what if things were different. What if everyone actually spend this occasion at home.

  • Would people come to terms with the hidden claim behind this holly day, that it is just another normal day but we keep getting blindedby the lights of holiness?
  • What about people who spend it alone?
  • Does it really have the same religous taste of spending in group?
  • Should it have the same same taste?

Hopefully, we never find out.

I recognized some similarities between what I observed today and what Fathi Meskini adressed in 2020 about the pope Francis’s sermon in front of no one and the emptiness of “Al haram Al Mecci" being an usual metaphysical event. You will find the link to his article right here. I highly recommend it.

In the end I wish you all Aid mubarak. Make sure to stay safe. Protect yourself and your loved ones. Enjoy your day!
